Can The Food We Eat Cause Acne?
As I visit acne forums and blogs on the web,I'm often appalled to see all the claims being made that there's absolutely no relationship between the foods on eat, and acne. I have even seen those statement made even on official medical sites.
This has always been an issue of concern for me because today, in this age and time, there has been enough research evidence that proves that there's a direct link between disease, and our diet.
Our body is one big interdependent system where everything works in conjuction with each other. Unfortunately, the medical community continues to look at the body in fragments, and not holistically as it should.
Today, going through one of my email accounts, I came across an email from Dr. Mark Hyman about acne and pimples. I immediately went over to his blog to read the article, and I was very relieved to see Dr. Hyman confirm what I've always known: the presence of acne on the skin in many cases, is a result of our diet, and toxic build up in the body.
The skin being the largest organ of the body, it is not surprising that it would be a prime canvass on which the body choses to manifests the imbalances taking place on the inside.
According to Dr. Hyman, acne rates are not only rising, but the avarage age of its patients is also increasing from 20 to 26 years. In fact, he says that millions of adults are experiencing acne for the first time in their life. That sure debunks the old premise that acne is an adolescent problem.
Acne is the symptom of a disease that is happening on the inside. It is caused by toxicity, hormonal imbalance, internal inflammation, or leaky gut syndrome among other things.
I know that diet has a direct relationship with acne from personal experience. I experienced breakouts twice in my adult life after going on the Atkins diet for only two weeks.
The Atkins diet is known to cause constipation. It is an easy way to lose a few quick pounds to get into that special outfit but with me, the constipation is so severe, that I've never been able to do it for more than 2 weeks. Aside from the awful bloated feeling one gets from not having regular bowel movements, on both occasions that I tried the diet, my face broke out in pimples which disappeared as soon as I came off the diet, and did a detox.
After my second time on the Atkins diet, and experiencing breakouts on my face each time, I had no doubt that that there was a correlation between the diet, and my acne breakouts.
When we suffer from any disease, it is important that we take control of our health. Acne can never be treated effectively from the outside in. The only way to effectively treat acne, and to get rid of it permanently, is to treat it at its root cause, from the inside out. As Dr, Hyman says: Beauty and vibrant, clear, healthy skin come from the inside out, not from the outside in.
If you have acne, stop wasting your money on expensive topical treatments touted by overpaid celebrities. They're not the answer to your acne problems.
You can recover the beautiful skin you once had if you educate yourself, and if your are willing to treat your acne from the inside out by detoxifying your body, and implementing a diet low on processed foods, and high on antioxidant rich foods, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals

Hi
Just thought id post my experience with acne i suffered with awful acne for years and tried almost everything you can think of to get rid of my acne, with no success. I decided around three months ago that i was going to try the all natural approach to getting rid of it, so i changed my diet and started to eat helathy, i also purchased a Beautyskin acne lamp as i had heard good things about light therapy.
Three months on my acne is gone, honestly its completely gone! I feel so much happier in myself, i use my lamp 15mins every morning and follow a healthy diet and my skin is the clearest it has ever been. I honestly cant believe it, after all the drugs and topicals failing this has worked!
I Just wanted to let everyone know that natural is always best and in my case the only thing that worked.
Good luck.x
